The Merrill, Wisconsin community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Eric Seidel, whose passing has left family, friends, and loved ones grieving a life remembered for love, laughter, and the meaningful connections he shared with those closest to him.
Eric’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from those who knew him, describing a man whose presence brought warmth, joy, and a sense of family to everyone around him. While the circumstances surrounding his passing have not been publicly shared, the memories being shared by loved ones paint the picture of someone who was deeply cherished and will be missed every day.
One especially emotional tribute came from someone who shared just 202 days with Eric but described those months as some of the happiest of her life. She wrote that in that short time, Eric became her favorite person and an irreplaceable part of her and her daughter Libby’s lives.
She remembered dreaming about a future together, celebrating everyday moments, laughing through life’s imperfections, and building a family alongside Eric. Her words reflected the unimaginable pain of losing someone she believed she had so much more time with.
“202 days will never feel like enough,” she wrote. “I would give anything for 203.”
She also shared how Eric embraced Libby with love, creating a bond that made them feel like a family. Along with Libby, their beloved pets, Diesel and Bubbles, will forever carry Eric’s memory as part of their family.
Those who knew Eric remember him as someone who loved the outdoors and embraced a simple, authentic lifestyle. In honor of who he was, his family has asked everyone attending his services to wear “Eric clothes”—baseball hats, jeans, camo, flannel, or hunting shirts—as a tribute to the man they knew and loved.
